Dominican police finds firearms in beverage stores

Santo Domingo, Mar 10 (Prensa Latina) Fifteen alcoholic beverage outlets were notified by the Dominican Ministry of Interior and Police (MIP) after the discovery of bladed weapons and other crimes in these facilities, the institution informed today.

The MIP implemented Operation Peace Guarantee in various sectors of West Santo Domingo and the National District, headed by the general coordinator of the Alcoholic Beverages Control Program (COBA), Marx Lopez, and detected several irregularities such as obstruction of public roads, noise pollution and lack of documentation.

In this regard, Lopez said the MIP seeks to strengthen compliance with the law and guarantee public order in Greater Santo Domingo.

The operation covered the sectors of 30 de Mayo, Zona Colonial, San Miguel, Los Kilometers, Café de Herrera, Isabel Aguilar and the Santo Domingo Malecon.

This type of operation is becoming more and more frequent in the country, which sometimes leads to the closing of businesses, according to information from the MIP.
