According to experts, this figure means that in 2024 Russian exports of agricultural products to African countries exceeded seven billion dollars, and domestic food products were supplied to 45 countries of the continent, the statement said.
The note adds that the leading country in Russian food imports is Egypt, and last year Russia’s exports to this country grew by 21 percent in value terms.
The main product supplied was wheat. Cairo purchased from Moscow also sunflower and soybean oil, pulses, linseed, molasses, yeast and other foodstuffs.
At the same time, among the top five Russian food importing countries in Africa are Algeria, which increased in 2024 its purchases by 1.5 percent, Libya (18), Kenya (33), and Tunisia (28), Agroexport added.
Similarly, the organization clarified that Russian agricultural exports to Africa are first and foremost cereals: wheat, barley and corn, which together account for 87 percent of food supplies to the continent.
African countries are also the main buyers of Russian oils and fats, meat and fish, and in 2024 dairy shipments rose.
