Turchin replaces Golovchenko as Belarusian Prime Minister

Minsk, Mar 10 (Prensa Latina) Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko appointed Alexandr Turchin to replace Roman Golovchenko as Prime Minister, the Telegram channel pul_1 reported.

The channel, close to the president, also advanced that Golovchenko, appointed Prime Minister in 2020, will go on to serve as governor of the National Bank of Belarus.

“I want strong and experienced persons, organizers and economists, in charge of the economy in this five-year term,” Lukashenko stressed.

Turchin, who will turn 50 on July 2, holds a degree in economics from the Belarusian State University.

At the beginning of his professional career he was the director of a rural store; later he worked as a tax inspector, auditor of the Ministry of Finance, head of economy in the Minsk City Council, presidential advisor, head of the government apparatus and Deputy Prime Minister.

The new Prime Minister, quoted by Belta Agency, has already promised that “there will be no serious corrections in the economic policy”.

The most important thing is to ensure a sustainable and balanced development of our country. The priority, of course, will be the people, the improvement of their welfare and quality of life, Turchin declared.
