Vietnam and Singapore upgrade bilateral relations

Hanoi, Mar 10 (Prensa Latina) The upcoming visit of the General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV), To Lam, to Singapore marks a new step in bilateral relations, said today the ambassador of this country in the island nation, Tran Phuoc Anh.

In statements to the press, the diplomat explained that the party leader will make his trip from March 11 to 13, and emphasized that this is To Lam’s first visit to Singapore as General Secretary of the CPV.

This event occurs in a context of rapid, profound and transformative changes in the world and the region. Both Vietnam and Singapore are in an important stage of transition towards new eras. For the Indochinese nation, this is the period of “the era of the rise of the nation,” said Phuoc Anh.

In this context, the ambassador said, strengthening close and substantive cooperation between the two countries not only benefits mutual development, but also contributes to peace, stability and common development in the region.

He also stressed that this trip demonstrates the importance Hanoi attaches to relations with Singapore and aspirations to elevate them to new heights, in line with Vietnam’s foreign policy.

Both sides need to fully invest their resources, including time, human resources, finance and technology in key programs, such as the offshore wind energy projects between the Sembcorp Group project with the PetroVietnam Technical Service Corporation.
