Macron leads tribute to terrorism’s victims

Paris, Mar 11 (Prensa Latina) French President Emmanuel Macron led on Tuesday a tribute to the victims of terrorism on French soil and Europe with the promise not to forget them.

Macron traveled to the eastern city of Strasbourg for the event that was co-organized with the European Union (EU).

European Parliament President Roberta Metsola, EU Commission chief Magnus Brunner, and Strasbourg mayor Jeanne Barseghian, also attended the ceremony.

These are the memories that separate us from barbarism, affirmed the French president, who mentioned some of the terrorist attacks that have plunged France and Europe into mourning in the last few years.

Metsola, in turn, stated that the EU will not give in to the threat of radicalization and will do everything possible to prevent terrorism and protect its citizens.

The event had a symbolic nature, as this year marks the 10th anniversary of the November 2015 attacks on the Bataclan concert hall, Paris’ restaurants and outdoor cafes, and the Stade de France in Saint-Denis, resulting in 131 deaths and 350 people injured.

For the sixth consecutive year, France paid tribute to the victims of terrorism, as of the decree that established the national day in November 2019.
