The diplomat reported Qurbanov will attend the 4th International Colloquium “Patria”, to be held in Havana from March 17 to 19, when Cubans will commemorate the 133rd anniversary of the newspaper founded by National Hero José Martí.

Qurbanov highlighted the opportunity to attend the event, while his Cuban host recalled 2025 will witness the 20th anniversary of the founding of Multistate Channel “Telesur”, at the behest of late revolutionary leaders Fidel Castro and Hugo Chávez, as well as the 4th anniversary of the Communication Faculty of the University of Havana.

Valdés briefed the political scientist and expert in international relations on the dire consequences for Cuba deriving from the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States government, and hailed Azerbaijan’s historical rejection of such sanctions.

He added the effects of that policy continue to worsen exponentially after US President Donald Trump decided to reinstate Cuba on the List of State Sponsors of Terrorism, as well as measures against medical collaboration.

In this regard, Qurbanov recalled the efficient work by 235 Cuban health staff who dealt with the Covid 19 pandemic in his country in 2020 and 2021, a topic he will address at Havana’s forum on the 17th.

As in previous editions, the Patria forum will feature specialized conferences, thematic panels, presentations of successful communication projects and technological displays from the Global South.
