Organizers announced that the event brings together, until March 21, government leaders, financial institutions, academicians, and specialists, including Cuba’s Central Bank (BCC) First Vice-President Yamile Berra.
Themed “Gathering Financial Wisdom and Illuminating the South”, the forum aims to build a platform for the Global South’s financial community and explore cooperation models that will boost world economic stability and prosperity.
Priority issues such as scientific and technological innovation, artificial intelligence (AI), and green and digital finance are addressed through a series of parallel forums and side events.
Xinhua, one of the event’s organizers, informed that financial cooperation is an essential area of mutually beneficial collaboration for the Global South and a shared challenge nowadays. Official figures show that over the last 20 years, the Global South nations have contributed 80 percent to world economic growth and currently account for more than 40 percent of the global economy. China, as a member of the Global South, actively promotes South-South cooperation in several fields, and has participated in global governance along with those nations.
