In a post on X, the head of Cuban diplomacy reaffirmed the country’s stance against terrorism and expressed that Cuba will always honor the martyrs of its Ministry. He stated, “We reiterate our rejection of terrorism in all its forms and manifestations and commit to continuing to defend the legacy of the martyrs of the foreign service.”
Sergio Armando Pérez, a combatant with the Ministry of the Interior serving the Cuban Foreign Ministry, was killed on April 4, 1972, during an attack involving plastic explosives that destroyed the Cuban Trade Office in Montreal and injured seven others.
The planning of this attack was carried out by the terrorist organizations Joven Cuba and the Directorio Revolucionario Estudiantil, as their leaders claimed at the time. The individual responsible for the attack was Juan Felipe de la Cruz, who died months later in a Paris hotel when a bomb he had prepared for the Cuban Embassy in France exploded, according to investigations and historical documents.
