In an interview published in the newspaper Deshabhimani, of the state of Kerala, under the title Imperial Echoes, Voices of the Working Class, Bains analyzed the global solidarity initiatives of the Association of Indian Communists (AIC) of which he was its general secretary, the rise of the youth movements and the workers’ struggles in Great Britain, where he resides.
“We come from the land of British imperialism, and we need to build and strengthen our anti-imperialist struggles,” the labor leader told the news outlet on the occasion of the 24th Congress of the Communist Party of India (Marxist), which took place last weekend in Tamil Nadu.
He pointed out that the AIC was founded by Basava Punnaiah and Harkishan Singh Surjeet in 1966 after dialogue with Indian comrades and was later officially established in 1967 with the vision of building an anti-imperialist workers’ movement in the heart of the British Empire.
Bains said that since then, links have developed and the organization has been instrumental in fostering the party’s connections with anti-imperialist movements around the world.
