The director of the Emergency Operations Center (COE), General Juan Manuel Méndez, confirmed that the collapse of the nightclub’s roof left 221 people dead, and described this mission as “the most difficult task” of his 20 years leading the organization.
The COE reported that the rescue efforts have concluded, although assistance to family members through various government institutions continues.
Dozens of families are still waiting for the bodies of their loved ones for burial, according to local media.
