The release noted that Dmitry Bakanov, Director General of the Roscosmos State Corporation, and Mikhail Kovalchuk, president of the Kurchatov Institute Research Center, signed the document.
The accord defines that the Kurchatov Institute will lead scientific research related to the nuclear space program, which is carried out in the context of the new federal project “Space Atom.”
The program aims to develop scientific and technical capabilities based on fundamental research and applied developments. This cooperation will help develop nuclear space technologies, as well as accelerate the industrial development and market launch of such technologies.
The parties also agreed to establish a Joint Strategic Development Council, which will coordinate their joint efforts.
