“We should not expect a quick recovery,” Birolini told the press at the capital’s DF Star hospital.
He explained that Bolsonaro is receiving antibiotics and physiotherapy to gradually recover muscle activity.
He pointed out that the former governor (2019-2022) may have to remain hospitalized for at least two weeks (not necessarily in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
According to the physician, he does not expect a new operation: “We performed the surgery with the idea that it would be definitive. Naturally new adhesions will form. This is inevitable. The final result was quite satisfactory at the time”, he emphasized.
He stated that he has been following Bolsonaro’s health since 2018, when he was stabbed during the election campaign, but “this procedure performed yesterday is one of the most complex. It was a complex and delicate surgery.”
