The diplomat expressed her delight at the massive attendance, the public’s enthusiasm, and the opportunity for Cuban music to return to this prestigious artistic institution after several years.
The concert, held on Sunday, was organized by the Artists for Peace group in partnership with the Cuban Embassy. It was “an unforgettable evening with captivating melodies and contagious rhythms that will make your heart dance” and allowed attendees to discover the spirit of Cuba.
The organizers stated that Cuban music is a world of rhythm, soul, and innovation, shaped by iconic figures such as Miguel Matamoros, Ernesto Lecuona, Compay Segundo, and other maestros.
The concert featured soprano Ayşe Göknur Shanal, who was accompanied by Karella Mitchell (cello), Cheryl Oxley (piano), and Jess Ciampa (percussion). jrr/iff/ro/mpm
