According to the state news agency KCNA, the donation was made on the occasion of the 113th anniversary of the birth of the founder of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, Kim Il Sung.
The purpose is to “cooperate with the democratic national education of the children of Koreans living in Japan,” it stated.
According to the information, there have been 171 such remittances since the first one, made by Kim Il Sung in 1957.
The noble tradition was continued by his successors Kim Jong Il and Kim Jong Un, bringing the total amount to 49,988,590,390 yen.
