CEH spokesman, Father Marc-Henry Siméon, considered that leadershipin the Antillean nation is bleak on the eve of the first anniversary of the appointed political body on April 25.
Blood and tears have been shed over the murders, kidnappings and rapes committed in the last three years.
“We have had enough, let’s stop spilling blood and counting the dead,” stressed an earlier CEH communiqué.
Faced with the misery and pain suffered by the citizens of the country’s 10 departments, the bishops urged those in power to become aware of the seriousness of the current situation and to adopt enlightened measures for the welfare of the nation.
They warned of the consequences of division and of not working together for a better future, hence there must be a collective positive energy that will lead to a new Haiti, the one dreamed of by all.
The religious entity pointed out that organized crime has spread to all the departments and the main cities, while the metropolitan region of the capital is almost entirely controlled by armed groups.
“The population is hostage to the ruthless violence of the gangs and their allies,” lamented the institution.
They pointed out that the growing and generalized insecurity hinders all activities in the country, including those of the Church.
“It is clear that we cannot fight alone against an evil that has taken so many roots.”
