In order to boost climate action, Ahmed defined financing as a key area that will guarantee adequate, predictable and sustainable resources.
Referring to the significant increase in the African continent’s share of global energy investment, he called for taking it from the current two percent to 20 percent by 2030 in order to support sustainable development and safeguard critical ecosystems.
Another key area is the need for urgent measures to protect nature by combating biodiversity loss and land degradation.
“This includes funding grassroots initiatives such as the Green Legacy Initiative and ensuring fair and equitable benefit-sharing mechanisms for local communities,” stressed the Ethiopian head of government.
The P4G Summit is the first high-level multilateral conference in the field of green growth, green transition and sustainable development organized by Vietnam.
According to the African leader, it reflects a shared desire for a bright, green, clean and beautiful world, emphasizing that the human factor is the center, the theme, the goal, the driving force and the resources for the greening process and sustainable development in the world.
