Expectations are rising for Cuba’s journalism-tourism seminar

Havana, Apr 16 (Prensa Latina) Communicators from several countries showed today their expectations on the upcoming 18th International Seminar on Journalism and Tourism to be held in Havana next June.

One of the most attractive elements of the meeting is that it will deal with topics related to nature, adventure and rural travel.

Some elements advanced by the organizing committee, showed agreements with the Ecotur S.A. Travel Agency for the attendees to visit productive farms during the days of the meeting.

The International Institute of Journalism Jose Marti (IIPJM) convened the 18th Seminar, which will be held from June 16 to 20, 2025, in Havana, at the headquarters of this educational institution.

This traditional event is organized by the specialized section of the tourist press of the Union of Journalists of Cuba (UPEC) in coordination with the IIPJM and now Ecotur joins the event.

The meeting, aimed at journalists, communicators and other professionals, will be an ideal space to once again analyze global trends in tourism and communication, with emphasis on topics of prime interest such as the rise of ecotourism and the impact of artificial intelligence, they said.

It will also foster the exchange of opportunities, challenges and best practices in media coverage.

Many usual Latin American journalists visiting Cuba, expressed via e-mail their desire to repeat their presence at the meeting.

New technologies, and now artificial intelligence, are having an impact on the management of hotels, travel agencies, and specialized journalistic communication, and will also be part of the meeting’s agenda.

Attendees will learn about one of the experiences of the Ecotur S.A. Travel Agency associated with sustainable environmental management in natural areas with a high degree of biological diversity, and with high aesthetic-landscape values.

The seminar on journalism and tourism, promoted by the Ministry of Tourism (Mintur) of this country, attracts professionals from Latin America and the Caribbean, with frequent attendance of communicators from Colombia, Mexico, Panama, and Brazil, among others.
