In a statement issued after concluding a visit to Doha, Al-Shara expressed Syria’s commitment to developing bilateral relations and enhancing joint coordination with Qatar, for the benefit of both peoples.
He praised Qatar’s stance, which he described as sincere and unwavering toward the Syrian people.
Strengthening cooperation and integration between Syria and Qatar is a fundamental pillar for consolidating stability and advancing the well-being of the peoples of both countries, the president asserted.
In turn, the Emir of Qatar said in a post on the X platform that fraternal relations between Damascus and Doha are experiencing significant development and growth, thanks to mutual commitment.
We will work together to boost relations to the desired level, which serves the common interests of both countries, the Qatari emir said.
The Syrian president during the transitional period, Ahmad Al-Shara, made an official visit to the State of Qatar, considered his sixth since assuming the presidency. He previously visited the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Jordan, and Egypt.
In addition to its political support for the current government in Damascus, Qatar sent an airlift of humanitarian aid and supplied free gas for the operation of power plants.
At the end of January, the Emir of Qatar, Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, paid a visit to Syria, considered the first by a head of state since the fall of Bashar Al-Assad’s government in early December.
