Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Lin Jian announced that Ruto’s agenda, active from April 22 to 26, will include meetings with host leader Xi Jinping, top legislator Zhao Leji, and Premier Li Qiang.
The spokesperson stated, “In the new era, the two countries have established a comprehensive strategic cooperation partnership, with frequent high-level exchanges, deepening mutual political trust, fruitful achievements in the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), and close cooperation in regional and international affairs.”
Lin Jian noted that this is the first state visit to China by an African country leader since the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) Summit held in Beijing last year.
The spokesman noted that Ruto’s agenda will provide an all-weather China-Africa community with a shared future for the new era, while boosting solidarity and cooperation in the Global South.
During FOCAC 2024, Chinese President Xi Jinping provided 360 billion yuan (about 50.70 billion dollars) in financial support to implement modernization measures in Africa.
