Thai Deputy Prime Minister Suriya Juangroongruangkit and the Acting Chargé d’Affaires of the Malaysian Embassy in Thailand, Bong Yik Jui, welcomed the Prime Minister at Military Air Terminal Two in the capital.
The delegation accompanying Ibrahim includes Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Abdul Aziz; Minister of Public Works Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi; and Secretary-General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Datuk Seri Amran Mohamed Zin, among other officials.
According to the Malaysian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Anwar and Paetongtarn will follow up on the outcomes of the seventh Malaysia-Thailand Annual Consultation, held on December 16, 2024, in Putrajaya.
The two leaders will also assess bilateral ties and explore other potential areas of collaboration between the two close neighbors, in addition to discussing regional and international issues of mutual interest, according to a statement from the ministry.
In 2024, Thailand was Malaysia’s seventh largest trading partner globally and the third largest within the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).
