In a message of condolences, the head of government described the Supreme Pontiff as a pillar of support for Lebanon, a man of humility, love and service.
The President of the Republic, Joseph Aoun, mourned the loss of Pope Francis, considering him a voice of justice and peace, a friend of Lebanon and a defender of the poor and marginalized.
While expressing condolences to the Vatican and Christians around the whole world, the Lebanese Resistance (Hizbulah) praised the clear stand of Pope Francis calling for an end to the Israeli aggression against Gaza, until the last days of his life.
In this regard, Hizbulah highlighted his stand condemning the massacres committed against the people of Gaza, his calls for humanitarian aid, his official recognition of the State of Palestine, and his unwavering support for the cause.
The resistance also emphasized his constant solidarity with Lebanon, especially his denunciation of Israeli aggression, and described these stances as a reflection of ‘his genuine commitment to humanitarian values and his rejection to injustice everywhere.’
