Only three deaths due to gang activity have been recorded so far this month, the only ones included in official statistics.
The homicide-free days this month are added to the days recorded on January 26, February 25, and March 23, for a cumulative total of 92 days in 2025 without crimes traceable to gangs or maras. These results are considered a testament to the success of the Territorial Control Plan policy and the state of emergency in force in the country since March 27, 2022, an achievement that some nations are seeking to replicate, and which allowed El Salvador to establish a homicide rate of 1,9 per 100,000 people in 2024.
Furthermore, this policy led to the arrest of more than 85,000 suspected gang members and collaborators, reaching a rate of 1,824 prisoners per 100,000 inhabitants.
