Last year, the United Nations Security Council reiterated its request to member states to take appropriate measures to prevent the illicit trafficking and diversion of small arms, light weapons and ammunition in Haiti.
The request is in line with the UN resolution issued in 2022.
In this regard, the UN called on all States, in particular countries in the region, to inspect in accordance with international law, all cargoes to Haiti and its territory, including seaports and airports.
