Ishiba will meet in Vietnam with To Lam, general secretary of the Communist Party (CPV), and visit the Vietnam-Japan University, established in Hanoi by the two countries as a joint project.
While in the Philippines, the Japanese premier will hold official talks with President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.
These visits seek to share views on how the taxes imposed by US President Donald Trump could affect the global economy and the free trade system, Japanese media company NHK reported.
The Trump administration began applying, since early March, a 25 percent tariff on all steel and aluminum imports, among other taxes that impact trade relations on a planetary level.
The Japanese prime minister insists on making diplomatic efforts with the US government to get it to agree to review all measures, which, in his view, will never be appropriate to strengthen the US industry.
