Russia is among the top three suppliers of metallurgical coal to India, after Australia, with 30.4 million tons, and the United States, with 8.6 million tons.
Russian coking coal exports to the Asian nation have nearly tripled in the last three years, according to data from the Indian Ministry of Industry and Trade.
Quoting a Price Index Center (PIC) study, the publication reported in February that in 2024, the total supply of Russian coal to India fell by 37 percent to 25 million tons, compared to the previous year.
