Air defense downs 87 Ukrainian drones in eight Russian regions

Moscow, Apr 24 (Prensa Latina) The air defense systems shot down 87 Ukrainian attack drones that targeted eight Russian southwestern regions, the Defense Ministry reported on Thursday.

The military institution announced on its official Telegram channel that 45 unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) were shot down over the Crimean peninsula; 10 over Kursk; 10 others over Belgorod; eight over Voronezh; four over Bryansk, Lipetsk, and Nizhny Novgorod; and two over the Moscow region.

The Defense Ministry, which did not name the targets of the Ukrainian drone attacks, described the strikes as terrorist actions against Russian facilities.

The Russian air transport agency, Rosaviatsia, reported that the temporary restrictions have been imposed at the airports of Zhukovsky, in southeast Moscow, Kaluga, Nizhny Novgorod, Kazan, and Ulyanovsk, for security reasons.

The Russian provinces bordering Ukraine, such as Belgorod, Bryansk, Kursk, Voronezh, and the Republic of Crimea, regularly report shelling, drone strikes, and other attacks from across the border, forcing the population to seek shelter elsewhere.
