According to the president of the Cuban Institute of Art and Cinematographic Industry (ICAIC), Alexis Triana, the representatives of those nations were interested in signing agreements or memoranda of understanding with the representatives of his institution and the Cuban Ministry of Culture. Among the most significant meetings held by Cuba’s delegation, headed by Deputy Minister of Culture, Lisette Martinez, is the one held with representatives of Belarus, who requested the screening of Cuban films at the Minsk International Film Festival.
They also talked with the Turkmenfilm Association of Turkmenistan, interested in professional film training for their young students and in bringing their films to Havana, and with officials of the Ministry of Culture of Serbia, who helped in the search and rescue of copies of Cuban films.
Triana noted that they also held meetings with the vice president of the China Film Producers Association, Zhou Jiandong, and with the general director of the Turkish Film Company, Birol Güven, both very interested in the need to sign a co-production agreement with the ICAIC.
