Ministry spokesman Mohammad Ashraf Haqshenas said that the deputy minister of Railways signed the agreement with the director of the Uzbekistan Railway Authority during his visit to the country.
At the same meeting, the two sides agreed to extend the operation, maintenance, and service contract of the Hairatan-Mazar-e-Sharif railway line for two years.
The spokesman added that an agreement was also reached on the design and topographical survey of the Herat-Mazar-e-Sharif railway line, in addition to the feasibility study of the Afghan-Trans project.
Earlier, Russia’s special envoy for Afghanistan stated that the interim government would participate in the Kazan Forum, where they are also expected to hold talks on the 573-kilometer railway line of the Afghan-Trans project.
