Sources cited a senior Turkish Defense Ministry official, who revealed that the agreement was reached during a recent high-level meeting in Amman, the capital of Jordan, attended by foreign and defense ministers and intelligence chiefs of the five nations.
There was a consensus to provide support to Damascus in its fight against terrorism, particularly against the Daesh terrorist group.
The Turkish officer explained that technical meetings are currently underway with the participation of the countries involved in the center.
In a previous statement, Turkish Defense Minister Yaşar Güler expressed that establishing stability in Syria, preserving its territorial integrity, and allowing the new Syrian government to impose its legitimate authority throughout the country are critical elements for the region’s future. He also highlighted Ankara’s continued support for efforts to build security and defense capabilities in Syria and its ongoing fight against all terrorist organizations, especially Daesh.
