Cuauhtemoc Training Ship of the Mexican Navy Visits Cuba

Havana, Apr 28 (Prensa Latina) The training ship ARM Cuauhtémoc, of the Mexican Navy, arrived today at the Sierra Maestra Cruise Terminal, in this capital, with a message of peace and friendship.

The sailing ship, known as the Ambassador and Knight of the Seas, was received by Flotilla Captain José Luis Souto, second-in-command of the Revolutionary Navy.

On board the vessel, the Mexican ambassador to this Caribbean nation, Miguel Ignacio Diaz, thanked the crew for the reception and highlighted the historic brotherhood between the two countries.

He said that this visit takes place at a time when the island is going through economic difficulties, and is an expression of the will of his country and its president, Claudia Sheinbaum, to extend a helping hand and reaffirm that Cuba can count on Mexico’s solidarity.

The ambassador affirmed that during their stay, until April 30, the sailors will be able to visit emblematic sites of the Cuban capital and deepen their knowledge about this sister country, linked to his nation by the Gulf of Mexico and significant episodes of history.

This cruise, with a crew of 277 members (64 women and 213 men), commemorates the bicentennial of the Consolidation of Mexico’s Independence (1825-2025) and will travel through 22 ports in 15 countries for 254 days.

During their stay, the visitors will develop a program of activities that includes official visits to Cuban authorities, floral offerings at monuments to Jose Marti and Benito Juarez, and an exchange with the Granma Naval Academy.

The population will be able to tour the vessel from today, from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm; and on April 29 from 12:00 noon to 7:00 pm, local time.
