Valdes Mesa, member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC), made this remark on X, on Monday, at the end of his visit to the Hi-Tech Agricultural Park in Cu Chi district, in Ho Chi Minh City.
The facility tour was the first activity of Valdes Mesa’s official program in that southern metropolis, where he arrived on Sunday to attend the commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of South Vietnam and the National Reunification Day.
Upon his arrival in Ho Chi Minh City, the Cuban vice president said he was very proud to be back in this heroic land and share with the Vietnamese people and authorities the joy and happiness of this celebration.
Cuba, he said, “has in the highest priority relations with the Vietnamese people, historic ties of brotherhood between the two countries fostered by the leaders Fidel Castro and Ho Chi Minh.”
He also highlighted the broad bilateral collaboration in the economic order, food production, health, and biotechnology, and thanked Vietnam for its solidarity in the complex moments the country is experiencing.
Valdes Mesa arrived in Ho Chi Minh City on Sunday from Rome, where he headed the island’s delegation to the funeral liturgy for the recent passing of Pope Francis.
