The combined work of units of the Forest Ranger Corps (CGB) and the territorial agriculture system managed to quell the fire that devastated some 3,240 hectares of pine forests, Lieutenant Colonel Alexander Pereda, head of the CGB in the province, told ACN.
According to the executive, intensive actions were carried out the day before with mechanized means and applied the so-called counter-guard, which allowed establishing a perimeter for the definitive extinction of the remains of the fire, after nine days of confrontation.
The source detailed how more than half a thousand people were deployed in the field to counteract the spread of the flames, in the midst of strong winds, intense drought, inaccessible roads and the presence of combustible material.
