The decision was recorded in a joint statement issued at the end of the official talks between Prime Ministers Pham Minh Chinh and Ishiba Shigeru, who is on a three-day official visit to this nation.
That mechanism seeks to deepen the bilateral strategic dialogue, as part of which it also intends to strengthen ties in security, intelligence, and police work, and expand collaboration in addressing non-traditional security challenges.
According to the document, the two ministers praised the substantive progress in cooperation and exchanges between the two countries’ Defense Ministries. They urged collaboration in this sector, including joint defense equipment and technology projects.
Minh Chinh and Ishiba also reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining high-level exchanges and contacts annually through all channels and levels to help build political trust, the fundamental basis of bilateral cooperation.
The two officials also agreed to work closely to re-launch the Joint Committee on Science and Technology in 2026 and promote the Maritime Dialogue mechanism.
