The video posted on the Foreign Ministry’s official WeChat channel, titled “Don’t Kneel!”, denounces Washington’s pressure to limit trade with China under the pretext of a “90-day pause game.”
Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun reaffirmed Beijing’s position that there are no winners in a trade or tariff war. He also emphasized that this dispute was initiated by the United States and “if it wishes to resolve it through dialogue, it must stop threatening, stop exerting pressure, and negotiate on the basis of equality, respect, and mutual benefit.”
Since April, Chinese products imported into the US have been subject to tariffs of up to 145 percent (125 percent added in recent days and 20 percent under the fentanyl excuse), while all goods from the United States face a 125 percent tariff.
Given this situation, China’s response is to expand its opening to the outside world, diversify markets, facilitate foreign investment in new sectors, create a unified national market that improves the business environment, and expand domestic consumption with macroeconomic policies, among other measures.
