Located in the metropolitan area of Port-au-Prince, this zone has been totally paralyzed for 24 hours, in obedience to the leader of an armed gang, Christ-Roi Chéry, known as Krisla.
The bandit used social media to disseminate a message ordering the closure of all public and private activities, while calling on the authorities to initiate a dialogue to establish peace in the commune.
According to the digital newspaper Vant Bèf Info, the public administration, schools, department stores and most stores respected the order, closing their doors. Only hospitals remained open.
This paralysis promoted by Krisla highlights the fragility of security in Carrefour, where armed groups exercise increasing control over economic and social activities.
It illustrates the vacuum left by the state’s absence and the police’s inability to guarantee citizens’ security.
