The government entity notified that, in the ongoing talks, representatives of the Indian Department of Commerce and the Office of the United States Trade Representative met in Washington from April 23 to 25, as a continuation of the meetings held in March 2025 in New Delhi.
In Washington, the Indian team held fruitful discussions on a wide range of issues, both tariff and non-tariff, he said.
The path to conclude the first segment of the mutually beneficial, multi-sectoral Bilateral Trade Agreement by the fall of 2025 was discussed, including opportunities for early mutual benefits, the official source stressed.
India’s Ministry of Commerce and Industries specified that while productive meetings at the sectoral expert level have been held virtually, similar meetings, but face-to-face, are planned for late May onwards.
