Ukraine has not responded to Russian ceasefire proposal

Moscow, Apr 29 (Prensa Latina) Russia has not yet received any response from Ukraine to its initiative to declare a ceasefire on the days of the 80th anniversary of the victory over Nazi Germany, Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on Tuesday.

It is still difficult to understand whether the Kiev authorities intend to join the ceasefire initiative declared by Moscow on the Victory Day holidays, Peskov told journalists.

By a decision of President Vladimir Putin, Russia declared a 72-hour unilateral ceasefire from May 8 to 11, during which all military operations will cease.

At the same time, Russia made it clear that its Armed Forces will give “an adequate and effective response” to possible ceasefire violations by Ukraine.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, in turn, described the announcement as “another manipulation attempt” by Russia and reiterated the offer of an immediate, complete, and unconditional ceasefire of at least 30 days to ensure its observance. jrr/iff/mem/gfa
