Non-governmental organizations point out that the citizens of these regions are returning even though they do not know what they will find upon their arrival after two years of destruction and war. They are confident of a certain stability with Khartoum in the hands of the armed forces.
An estimated 14 million people fled their homes, many arriving in neighboring countries, and relocating to less dangerous areas of Sudan.
Local media citing the United Nations International Organization for Migration (IOM) affirm that some 123,000 displaced Sudanese, including some 50,000 this month, have returned from Egypt since early 2025.
Since mid-April 2023, Sudan has been embroiled in an internal war, following a power struggle between Army Chief, General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, and the RSF leader, General Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo.
