Francisco Estarellas, of the alliance between RC and the Renovacion Total (Total Renovation-RETO) organization, whose presidential candidate was Luisa Gonzalez, went to the CNE headquarters at 23:06 hours (local time) on Wednesday, April 30, to deliver the documentation for the claim.
However, Estarellas pointed out that the electoral agency’s officials registered “27,834 proofs” of the reception of the challenge on May 1, the date on which they finished reviewing the files delivered by RC-RETO.
“The CNE acts as a judge, favoring incumbent President Daniel Noboa. Today, they have further undermined their already limited legitimacy by hindering our appeal to challenge the 2025 runoff results,” RC affirmed on its X account. Gonzalez, candidate and president of the organization, indicated that this time they presented 13,917 minutes with irregularities.
This new claim is added to others already rejected by the CNE plenary, which proclaimed Daniel Noboa, of the National Democratic Action (ADN) movement, as the winner of the presidential elections, with 55.63 percent of the votes.
Estarellas told local media last week that the minutes have several irregularities and assured that flaws in the system harmed candidate Gonzalez, who obtained 44.37 percent of the votes, according to official data.
