A total of 44 irregular migrants rescued in South Africa

Pretoria, May 2 (Prensa Latina) The South African Police Service (SAPS) rescued 44 undocumented migrants who were being held against their will in a house in Parkmore, Sandton, north of Johannesburg.

According to a statement issued by the policie, “An investigation is underway to determine how they arrived in the country and how they ended up locked in the house.”

Apparently officers from a private security company, who were conducting routine patrols in the area, received a complaint about noises generated inside the house.

Preliminary investigation by the SAPS revealed that all the men, aged between 15 and 22, were Ethiopian nationals with irregular status in South Africa.

The rescued men were taken to the local police station for processing by the Ministry of Home Affairs.
