A statement from the Ministry of Education refers to some 46 actions taken from January to April to improve educational quality throughout the country. More than 1.8 million students and teachers at all levels participated in academic, artistic, cultural, scientific, and sports activities, strengthening their learning capabilities and consolidating their social ethics.
The Ministry also highlighted the teaching of History and National Identity to some 67,810 teachers and 104,621 students from technical institutes and colleges, considering it a core subject. In addition, progress has been made in updating and adapting curriculum designs, by adding contents related to the pillars of the national education strategy.
Coincidentally in time, the National Artistic and Cultural Education Program began, covering an array of art related subjects and providing certificates to 12,000 arts and culture teachers at all levels, que report stated.
Adding to this, the National Environment and Nature Day launched contests at elementary schools, technology institutes and universities, in coordination with the Guardabarranco environmental movement, with the goal of raising the students’ related awareness.
The Ministry noted that, in coordination with the Alexis Arguello Sports Movement, adaptive, inclusive, and traditional games were also introduced into the national education system, promoting health care, healthy recreation, and a life free of drugs and addictions.
Another program featured is Education for Life and Productive Vocation, which is aimed at 69,000 distance learning high school students in rural areas, inmates, and others, providing training opportunities in literacy, basic, technical, and university education.
