The 24th festival that invites Paris citizens and visitors to stay awake to enjoy free museums and shows will be devoted to film, in particular to pay tribute to the first paid Lumiere brothers’ public session at Le Salon Indien du Grand Cafe in Paris, on December 28, 1895.
According to French actress and filmmaker Valerie Donzelli, artistic director of Nuit Blanche 2025, they aim at transforming the City of Light into a major cinematic platform, with more than 1,000 outdoor and indoor activities.
Donzelli considered the night as a space of resistance and creative freedom, in contrast to “the prison world of the day.”
Among the projects stands out the open-air screening of films in several squares in Paris, where women filmmakers will be the protagonists.
Films by Delphine Seyrig, Alice Guy, Germaine Dulac, Chantal Akerman, Agnes Varda, and Jacqueline Aubry will be screened in the already selected public spaces in this capital.
