US pulls 200 vehicles out of its military bases in Syria

Damascus, May 3 (Prensa Latina) More than 200 military vehicles belonging to the US led international coalition in Syria on Saturday withdrew from two bases located in the Deir Ezzor province, some 450 kilometers northeast of this capital.

Local sources quoted by Syria TV stated that the withdrawal was conducted from the enclaves established by Washington in the Koniko and Al-Omar oil fields, in northern Deir Ezzor.

The column left the two bases in groups under heavy security measures.

That withdrawal comes at a time when Syria’s northeastern region is witnessing tensions and changes in deploying US-led international coalition forces.

In April, the Pentagon announced the start of a redeployment of its troops in this Arab nation. The decision led to the closure of three bases and a gradual cut on troops from 2,500 to 1,000.

The Washington-backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) revealed that the Pentagon forces will move to five leading bases in northeastern Syria, three of which are concentrated in Hasakeh Governorate.
