According to the curatorship, the works on display range from the intimacy of nudes to the hustle and bustle of big cities, including the tenderness of motherhood and the pain of injustice.
In the 24 pictorial works shown at the Piece Of Cake Gallery (Plaza Moderna, Samborondón), the cobblestone streets of the Las Peñas neighborhood of Guayaquil, the faces of infants and naked bodies can be perceived.
Under the title ‘50 years later’, the exhibition will allow the Guayaquil public to appreciate the strokes, the variety of themes and styles of the distinguished master, considered the Painter of Ibero-America, until May 31.
Pablo Guayasamin, son of the creator, toured the exhibition and talked about the ideals of justice of his father, his values and how he took them to canvases, papers and murals.
Attendees will find very soft watercolors, warm colors, paintings where he reflects affection and tenderness, showing that at the same time he was a painter of contrasts, said Sébastien Mélières, spokesman for the exhibition, quoted Sunday by the newspaper El Universo.
He affirmed that Guayasamin “has done everything, drawings with ink, with crayons, he has done watercolors, he has done oils, he has mixed everything and each painting tells something.”
