Eminent intensive care specialist passed away in Cuba

Santa Clara, Cuba, May 4 (Prensa Latina) Dr. Armando Caballero, founder of the second intensive care service in Cuba and eminent professor of the specialty, died today at the age of 77, after heart complications.

In his more than four decades dedicated to internal medicine, Caballero held the titles of First and Second Degree Specialist in Anesthesiology and Resuscitation, as well as Second Degree Specialist in Intensive Care and Emergency Medicine, professor and researcher in several units and Honorary Member of the Cuban Academy of Sciences.

Cuban Health Minister, Jose Angel Portal, mourned his death and, in his social network X account, described him as an exceptional doctor and an admirable human being, noting that his legacy of science, dedication and love for life will always guide the country’s health care.

Milaxy Sánchez, Villa Clara’s governor, valued Dr. Caballero as an incomparable guide, an example of medical ethics and love for his profession, and extended condolences to his relatives on behalf of the Party and the Government in the territory.

During his extensive medical and teaching career, Caballero taught more than 50 courses and presented more than 100 researches related to intensive care, a service to which he dedicated his life.
