A Granma newspaper article reveals that this was one of the issues at the meeting led by President Miguel Diaz-Canel and directed by Prime Minister Manuel Marrero.
The text points out that in an international scenario marked by the increase in drug production and consumption, Cuba reinforces its Zero-Tolerance policy, with a strategy based on the balance of actions to prevent and fight the scourge.
Colonel Juan Carlos Poey, head of the Interior Ministry (MININT)’s specialized anti-drug fighting body, assured that the country is willing to collaborate with international organizations on fighting drugs.
The publication also adds that it complies with “the commitments assumed as a State party to the three international conventions in force.”
The document stated that the strategy to confront the problem is based on “preventive, educational, social inclusion, popular community participation, treatment, rehabilitation, and accessible universal health policies without discrimination of any kind.”
