In a statement posted on its official social media accounts, the Ministry confirmed that the Anti-Narcotics Department, in coordination with the Homs General Security Directorate, uncovered and seized a facility producing Captagon tablets as part of ongoing efforts to combat drug trafficking.
“The facility has been confiscated and will be destroyed, with its contents burned,” the statement added.
In a related operation, the Lebanese army raided a similar drug production site in the Hermel region. Security forces dismantled the facility and confiscated a large quantity of narcotic tablets, along with raw materials used in their manufacture.
This latest seizure follows a series of anti-drug operations in Syria. In March, Aleppo’s General Security Directorate arrested members of a trafficking network in the Maysaloun district, seizing over 160,000 narcotic tablets.
Additionally, authorities intercepted 150,000 tablets in northern Deraa, which were allegedly destined for smuggling into Jordan.
The crackdown continues a broader campaign against drug production and distribution, following earlier operations, including a major bust at the beginning of February.
