The Workers (PT) and Socialism and Liberty (PSOL) parties will go to the higher court against the decision of the lower house that favors the deputy Alexandre Ramagem and “could save” the former president Jair Bolsonaro, accused as a coup leader after the 2022 elections, some politicians allege.
The argument is that the resolution could stop the action against the entire core of the alleged violent plot, and not only against Ramagem, as provided by the federal Constitution.
Deputies decided Wednesday to suspend a process in the Supreme Federal Court (STF) investigating Ramagem’s involvement in the coup attempt orchestrated to keep Bolsonaro in power after the 2022 elections.
The text was approved by 315 votes in favor and 143 against.
It does not need to pass through the Senate.
Immediately after the approval, the Lower House speaker, Hugo Motta, enacted the proposal, which is already in force.
The request had already been approved by the Constitution and Justice Committee, and was discussed in the plenary after an agreement between the opposition and Motta.
Ramagem is the only parliamentarian charged in the action that points to the leadership of the Bolsonaro government in the coup plot promoted by the previous administration.
