In his speech at the School of Government of the Economic Research Institute for the Association of South East Asian Nations (ASEAN) and East Asia, Hun Sen shared three fundamental principles for peacebuilding.
The first emphasizes the importance of internal leadership and warns that a country capable of losing control of its political destiny is more vulnerable to protracted conflict and external manipulation.
He said peace must originate with the citizens and require the participation of all political spectrums of the population and the armed forces.
The second principle was a call to the international community to preserve peace, particularly in the face of the threat of radical ideologies.
Finally, he stressed the importance of political inclusion, justice, and reconciliation as vital components of sustainable peace. jrr/iff/mem/asg/liz
