Presidents of Cuba and Venezuela pay tribute to Bolívar in Russia

Moscow, May 8 (Prensa Latina) The presidents of Cuba and Venezuela, Miguel Díaz-Canel and Nicolás Maduro, respectively, paid tribute to the Liberator Simón Bolívar in the square that bears his name on Moscow's central Lomonosov Avenue.

On behalf of the countries of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America ALBA-TCP, both presidents laid a wreath at the equestrian sculpture of the Latin American hero.

Maduro stressed the importance for Latin American and Caribbean nations to be present in Russia in the celebrations for the 80th anniversary of the Soviet victory over Nazi Germany.

In this regard, he praised the historical and human value of the citizens of the countries of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics for the defense of humanity by giving 27 million lives to save the world from World War II.

In this regard, the Cuban head of State urged the young Venezuelans present at the event, who are studying in Russian universities, to follow the thread of history in order to be prepared to defend the nations’ sovereignty.
